MEXART 2024

As you stand before this mural by Víctor Meléndez, take a moment to immerse yourself in the story it tells. This artwork, part of the MEXAM NW Festival 2024, is a celebration of both Mexican and Pacific Northwest cultures. The mural portrays a Mexican Indigenous woman adorned with native animals and birds, symbolizing the deep connection between the natural worlds of Mexico and Seattle. Each element weaves together traditions and environments, bridging communities and highlighting the richness of Hispanic heritage.

Created in collaboration with the Consulate of Mexico in Seattle, the City of Seattle, Seattle Parks and Recreation and Seattle Department of Transportation, this mural is a vibrant reflection of the Latin-American presence in the city. It was made possible through Mayor Bruce Harrell’s One Seattle Graffiti Plan and the support of several key collaborators. Special thanks to Sire for his contributions, Novo Painting for donating the paint, Wasaki Studio for documenting the process, and Overall Creative, a woman-owned business, for their consulting support. This project is part of MEXAM NW Festival 2024, which features nearly 30 events celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month across the region.
